What to Expect: Wedding Day Weather by Season

I’m Diane, and along with my husband Glenn, I own All4One Farms, an outdoor wedding venue just outside Jacksonville. One of the first things couples ask me when they’re considering an outdoor ceremony is some version of “But what about the weather?” It’s a fair question — we’re a la carte and outdoors by design venue, and after hosting hundreds of weddings since 2017, I’ve learned exactly what each season actually brings. So instead of guessing, let me walk you through it honestly, season by season.

Winter (January–February)

Winter in North Florida is mild by most standards — think crisp mornings, comfortable afternoons, and the occasional cool snap that makes a sweater or shawl a nice addition to your bridal look rather than a necessity. Rain is possible but not the norm, and skies tend to be clear more often than not. Couples who want cooler weather without the intensity of a Northern winter often find this season surprisingly comfortable for an outdoor ceremony.

What to plan for: Layers for guests, and a slightly earlier ceremony time to make the most of daylight, since days are shorter this time of year.

Spring (March–June)

Spring is when North Florida really shows off. Temperatures climb steadily through the season, humidity starts creeping back in by late May, and afternoon showers become more common as you move toward summer. March, in particular, is one of our most requested months — the weather is close to ideal, with warm days and still-comfortable evenings.

What to plan for: By May and June, consider a later ceremony time to avoid peak afternoon heat, and always have a rain contingency in mind, even if the forecast looks clear a week out.

Summer (Closed at All4One Farms)

We close for weddings during the peak of summer, and honestly, the weather is exactly why. North Florida summers bring intense heat, high humidity, and frequent afternoon thunderstorms — not exactly ideal conditions for a comfortable outdoor ceremony. We’d rather help you plan a beautiful day in a season that sets you up for success than fight the weather in July and August.

Fall (September–December)

Fall is where our season picks back up, and it’s one of my personal favorites. Early fall can still carry some summer heat, but by October and November, the humidity breaks and evenings turn genuinely comfortable. October and November are two of our most popular months for exactly this reason. December brings cooler days similar to winter, with the added charm of the holiday season in the air.

What to plan for: Early fall ceremonies benefit from a later start time to avoid lingering heat; by late fall, you’re back to planning around shorter daylight hours.

How We Help You Plan Around the Weather

Because we’re an outdoor wedding venue, weather is something we think about with every couple who books with us — not as an afterthought, but as part of the planning process from day one. A few ways we help:

  • Our open-air barn gives you covered reception space no matter what the sky is doing, so a passing shower doesn’t mean canceling your plans. We also have heavy curtains to pull in case it gets to breezy.
  • Back up power means all our buildings are connected to a back up generator just in case of a power outage.
  • Flexible ceremony site options let you choose a spot that works with the season and time of day you’ve picked.
  • Staff on-site during your event means someone is always watching the weather with you, not just you watching it alone.
  • A full décor closet and large décor pieces mean you can adjust your look for the season without sourcing everything yourself.

A Few Honest Tips From Someone Who’s Seen It All

After hundreds of weddings, here’s what I tell every couple, regardless of season:

  1. Check the forecast, but don’t obsess over it a month out. Florida weather can change hour to hour; a forecast two weeks in advance is more guess than gospel.
  2. Have a rain plan you actually like, not just a backup you’re settling for. Our open-air barn works so well as a ceremony backup that some couples plan their ceremony there from the start.
  3. Dress for the season, not just the style you love. A fall evening ceremony might call for a light wrap; a spring afternoon might call for breathable fabric over layers.
  4. Trust your venue team. We’ve watched enough North Florida skies to have a good sense of what a day will actually bring — lean on that experience.
